We were approached by Sevenstar Electronics to design a Search and Rescue Transponder to meet International Maritime regulations. Typical applications are on Life Rafts on Ferries. The product enables Search and Rescue teams to locate survivors.
The design developed interactively with the company’s electronics engineers, with key features being established from operational and user research and ergonomics.
The final design is compact with easy handling and stowage on-board, and meets the relevant to International Maritime and British Standards. Practical features for the crew include easy replacement of batteries.
Crucially, it is easy to understand and operate under stressful conditions, and designed to reassure mariners during rescue.
We produced all detail drawings and CAD for manufacture, sourced and liaised with manufacturers during pre-production, and provided all product graphics artwork
The product received EU MED ‘wheelmark’ accreditation and Grant of Authorisation from the FCC.
Key benefits of design:
- Compact design for storage
- Easy to operate
- Cost effective to manufacture
